Dressing Up and Stepping out with DRESSBAR

I dabble in fashion. I dabble in the sense that I try to find ways to subtly coordinate my nerdy trophies with my everyday fashion staples. With the holiday season upon us, I, too, have a need for some new threads for some upcoming social gatherings, including a wedding party! When the opportunity to participate in an event with a local fashion blogging heavyweight poised itself, far be it for me to pass on a chance to get a little couture counseling.

Kicking off this Thursday, October 22nd, Jeannette (J’s Everyday Fashion) will be hosting a party with designer Carmen Marc Valvo. His LUXE Fall Collection is part of launch of DRESSBAR. Sounds a hair close to dressbarn? Well, guess who is putting their best foot forward this holiday season? Yes, dressbarn and DRESSBAR opposite sides of the same coin, bringing a fresh new look for the autumn and upcoming holiday season. The collections are fashion forward meets frugal-friendly with a diverse designs ranging sizes 4 to 24! In addition to Valvo, other designers featured in the DRESSBAR include Adrianna Papell and Heidi Weisel, as well as db’s in-house line, DB Fashion Studio.

Care to see what you could be missing out on? Check out Jeanette introducing the rebranded DRESSBAR and look how sharp some local bloggers look in the same dress but in different sizes. The majority of the dresses and other pieces in the collection are priced between $40-80, but my biggest challenge is picking one.

From the LUXE line, I am going through a rapid decompression over the Sweater Dress which could easily be styled for work or dressed up for the holidays. I do adore the Leopard Dress from the advertisements, but I don’t know if I am wild enough to make the animal print work for me. From the other lines, I love Papell’s Lace Jacquard Dress and Weisel’s MiXT Floral Pocket Dress. Unless I make some killer plans for New Year’s Eve, I don’t anticipate having anywhere to wear the stunning db RSVP Lace Sheath Dress.

I have a wedding to attend next month, so this event would be a prime opportunity to not only dress hunt, but get some solid advice from those better styled than I!

Care to join us? There is still time to RSVP and meet up with locals who love shopping and supporting local businesses. If you need help finding the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets (8200 Vineland Avenue, Orlando, FL 32821), look for unit 1501 (green section; opposite LOFT Outlet; park near Plaza des las Palmas) on the PDF Map.
