Week 2: Ideal Protein

My first check in with Dr. Kate since starting IP. I behaved myself in Dublin, which surprised me more than anyone else. It would appear that I can do things if I put my mind to it. Working with IP while traveling was easier than I originally thought. The key is access to hot water, cold water, a microwave, and a refrigerator. Thankfully when I layover, these amenities are available at our hotels. If they are not readily available inside the room, asking the hotel staff for access to these items doesn’t take much effort. I found that when traveling, carrying a small wire wisk or a plastic fork can prove useful when trying to make the soups or other hot dishes which do not require a proper kitchen. I ran into a few technical snags, but luckily, I had brought some back up items just in case.

I walked out of the office visit feeling great! The weight loss could have been greater had my work schedule not clashed with the official one week mark of the program, but -5 pounds is officially gone! The outfit I am wearing is from the 2010 Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco, CA. It was my very first half marathon that I ever ran, and now I cannot imagine what life without running would be like. Many of my friends and family have taken up running in recent years, creating one incredibly powerful and energetic support system.

Lady Kate

After discussing a rewards system with my friends, it was agreed that I would provide myself with small rewards for every five pound increment, with larger prizes when I clear 15 pounds (the half way mark) and 30 (1.1 pound short of my goal). The only stipulation is that the items cannot be food or beverages of any kind. No fancy cheat meals. No restaurant gift certificates. No trips to stock up my home bar. The list is still in progress as its taking far more thought than I guessed. I am avoiding putting things I intend to buy or anything “practical.”
