By the time I got my NYRR membership sorted, I had completely missed out on registering for anything in February, March or April of 2011. I really wanted to run this race in particular as it was a street race in Manhattan that didn’t take place in Central Park. The last race  I ran through the streets of NYC was in November 2010, when I ran the Continental Airlines International Fun Run (CAIFR) prior to the NYC Marathon. Coincidentally, visiting the NYC Marathon Expo and the energy of that that particular run, ignited my desire to attempt the harrowing task of getting into the NYC Marathon.

What piqued my interest about Coogan’s was that it is facilitated by a restauranteur in the City– one with a running theme. I have yet to visit Coogan’s, primarily because I wanted to run the race first (and find someone crazy enough to come along with me). It’s been touted for its running theme and great Irish atmosphere, but I can’t bring myself to check it out alone.

Look at all those runners!!

That’s the great part about running. I’ve found out that some of my NY pals are signing up, and we’re meeting for the race and brunch! What better way to savour a victory, than with fantastic food and fabulous company.
